Privacy policy

mybackhurts is an app for macOS and Windows by Vlad Mihalachi. This policy explains what the app does with your information.

What the app processes

When you choose Webcam mode, the app uses your camera to detect body poses and count exercise repetitions. On Mac, it uses Apple’s Vision framework. On Windows, it uses a pose model that runs on your PC through Windows ML. On both, video frames and pose data are processed in memory on your device and immediately discarded. The app does not record, upload, or store images or video. Webcam mode is optional; in Simple mode, the camera stays off unless you ask for it.

So that reminders don’t interrupt you, the app checks how long it has been since you last used the keyboard or mouse, whether another app is using the camera or microphone (for example, during a call), and whether a full-screen app is open. It only reads this status from the operating system. It never turns on the camera or microphone, and it does not keep this information.

What the app stores

The app stores settings and exercise results such as exercise names, repetitions, durations, and dates locally on your device. It does not require an account and does not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, or browsing activity.

Sharing and network access

mybackhurts does not operate analytics, advertising, tracking, or backend services, and does not make network requests of its own. If you make a Supporter purchase or tip, the store you got the app from processes that transaction: Apple through StoreKit on Mac, under Apple’s terms and privacy policy, and Microsoft through the Microsoft Store on Windows, under Microsoft’s terms and privacy statement. The Windows version is also installed and updated through the Microsoft Store.

Retention and deletion

Your local settings and session history remain on your device until you delete them using the app’s controls, remove the app’s data, or uninstall the app. You can contact us for privacy questions at hello@mybackhurts.app.
